Alzheimers, poems, Summer Morning

We awaken to thunder – what a sweet sound so dear-

The Lord is sweeping & telling us – nothing to fear!

Then gently the raindrops come & drop on the leaves-

Cleaning the park & bringing a cool breeze!

When the rain clears the sweeper truck combs the beach!

Making an easy way for folks – the sand to reach!

Wind whistles through the windows to let us know it is around-

Weaving through the panes that whimsical, musical sound!

The sun soon appears amid all the Sahara dust-

Making way for a warm/hot day – to play in – a must!

The coffee pot perks- it’s on automatic, you see-

Ready when we awaken for us to have coffee & tea!

What a calm way to welcome this beautiful day-

My favorite, peaceful partly cloudy day to play!

Alzheimers, poems, RADAR

I swear he has built in radar – he can track me anywhere-

No matter where I wander, he appears to be everywhere!

Within 5 minutes of me leaving a room-

He appears around the corner in a big zoom!

So I’m always within 20 feet of him no matter where I roam-

It is usually around the house in this condo we call home!

He seems to sense that I have left the area & seeks to find me-

However I am not far away, usually just to go & _______!

Just when I think I have gotten used to all this spying-

I get tired & I no longer feel like trying.

Trying to appease, fix & make him happy-

The days are long & I’m not very snappy!!!!!!

Alzheimers, poems, Two Only CHildren

Two only children wed, but we always got along-

Now we are older & things are very wrong!

We each want our own way, at any cost-

However that seems to be leading to our getting lost!

Lost to each other no matter what we try-

If I think about us – it truly makes me cry.

We used to give in & let the other have their way-

But now it is a standoff, what do I say?

He wants to do this – I want to do that-

Everything we do eventually leads to a spat!

Now I know that it is up to me to change-

Because he no longer has the power of his thoughts to arrange.

Please do help us Lord to grow up at age 75-

It is only through your strength that will keep us both alive!!!
